Did you know that Miro Cellars is a side-project for winemaker Miro Tcholakov? That’s right; he also works his Zinfandel magic at Trentadue Winery in Geyserville. In fact, he even makes his Miro Cellars wines there at Trentadue in a “custom crush” arrangement. He carefully keeps his wines (and those made for other custom crush clients) separate from Trentadue’s wines. However, he does not play favorites: each and every lot—no matter who ultimately gets his name on the label—gets 100% of Miro’s loving care.

2015 Miro Cellars Zinfandel
Gaddis Vineyard
Sold Out

Vineyard: Gaddis vineyard is located behind the Gaddis Nursery on Piner Road in the Russian River Valley appellation. The vineyard was planted in the early 1920s. It is predominately Zinfandel, along with some Alicante and Petite Sirah grapevines planted among the Zin vines.
Winemaking: The fruit was handled in the gentlest way possible: hand sorted and fermented in small open top fermenters, with a minimum of three punch-downs per day, done by hand. As usual, the most effort was spent in extracting as much of the beautiful Zin aromas without the harsh tannins. The malolactic fermentation was done in barrels; aging was done in one-year-old French and other European oak barrels for about 16 months.

2015 Miro Cellars Cuvée Sasha

Some wines just make sense. This vintage of our Cuvée Sasha is a field blend of Old Vines grown in the vineyards of California’s North Coast since the days before the Prohibition. Each variety brings its own signature to this dark and zesty wine full of aromas of ripe black cherries, blackberries, and plums. The wine is dense and complex with layers of rich and velvety tannins with a long, juicy finish. With aeration, nuances of ripe plums, vanilla, and cocoa are showing with a slight dose of oak and toast. It’s delicious now, but the 2015 Cuvée Sasha will reward your patience with 2-3 years of aging. Cheers!

Our 2015 Cuvée Sasha is predominately Zin blended with Petite Sirah and Carignane, resulting in very fruity yet complex and full-bodied Rhône-like wine.

72% Zinfandel
22% Petite Sirah
3% Sangiovese
2% Carignane
1% Syrah
